173 years of the October Railway
Congratulations on the anniversary
Dear colleagues, dear friends!
173 years ago, the Oktyabrskaya Railway opened, which marked the beginning of the creation of a railway network in Russia.
The first "official" train from St. Petersburg to Moscow passed along the Oktyabrskaya Railway on November 13, 1851.
He drove for almost a day — 21 hours and 45 minutes. Before that, of course, the road was tested: nine trains with battalions of guards passed through it. All passengers arrived in Moscow without incident.
For more than a century and a half, the railway has grown from 27 km to 10,378.4 km, and you can get from St. Petersburg to Moscow or back in just four hours.
Congratulations to colleagues on the holiday! We sincerely wish the staff of the Oktyabrskaya Railway success and prosperity, well-coordinated and uninterrupted work, health and well-being!
